Untangled aims to create a tangible difference in the lives of survivors by providing tools in system-based environments to help survivors manage anxiety and reduce stress.

By equipping first responders, criminal justice professionals, and other practitioners with these tools build bridge, we strive to build an empathetic system that prioritizes survivor well-being and healing, fosters stronger relationships between survivors and professionals, and supports positive case outcomes.

Untangled Initiative

RESPOND is partnering with multidisciplinary professionals across the country to develop an updated tool to assist practitioners responding to cases involving pediatric asphyxiation. This resource will be informed by the applied knowledge of those working in the field and will help guide professionals in better identifying these often missed cases.

Pediatric Asphyxiation

After years of injustice, survivors of Dr. Aravind Sankar should finally have a voice.

Hear their voice.

Although Dr. Sankar has been arrested five times for strangulation, sexual assault, and assault, he has never been to prison. With additional victims coming forward, the uncooperative Travis County District Attorney will not hold him accountable.

Do No Harm?

Homicidal asphyxiation often lacks obvious signs of external trauma, and deaths are often missed or misdiagnosed as suicides, accidents, overdoses or natural deaths. RESPOND is partnering with experts across the nation to offer specialized training on this important topic.

The Uncovering Justice Project

Our Better, Together Campaign is a series of interviews featuring both survivors and practitioners to educate the community and system about both barriers and successes through the lens of experience. The voices featured in these videos serve to transform these experiences into a universal language that we can all understand. When we understand trauma, we understand survivors, and we learn that we must be Better, Together.
